A massive couple of weeks at the Gold Coast begins this Saturday with a nine race card, with several runners looking to find a win or form leading into the Magic Millions next week. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. () Aquis Farm Pre Training And Agistment Plate (Class 3) 900m

Back Me

Going with sustained speed from the front in the shape of 5 Initialize (Bet Now: $9.50). Resumed without a trial over 1000m at the Sunny Coast where she led all the way, won as if it was a barrier trial and did it under a hold. Ran brilliant time as well, so a repeat effort here and she’ll just about win despite the leap in depth. Placed 2/2 at the track/distance also.

Danger

9 Acqume (Bet Now: $1.90) is a Sepoy mare for Toby Edmonds that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since Cup Day when running down the straight at Flemington and being not far away from Teleplay. Looked sharp in a trial win at Doomben early last month and this is clearly a drop in grade/depth. 900m is short of her best but does have class on her side.

Long Shot

7 Showus Ya Diamonds (Bet Now: $8.00) is an above average daughter of Time Thief resuming for Barry Lockwood. This girl hasn’t raced since May 6 when starting long odds on and doing a great job to win given she spotted those in front a tidy start on the turn. Resumes without a trial but I think the market will tell you how she’s going, especially with this stable.

Back Me

I’ll put 1 Barefoot (Bet Now: $2.30) on top. This Tony Sears trained filly was a month between runs when racing over the Sunny Coast mile where she was on speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Plitvice. I think with a more conservative steer, she should be fine at 1800m, and I think she’ll have room for improvement here in a thin race.

Danger

8 Windermere (Bet Now: $7.00) is on the quick back up for Toby Edmonds after racing over 2000m at Coffs Harbour last Thursday where she attempted to lead all the way and though she was one of the first under pressure, she kept finding and was only beaten off in the last couple of strides. Back to 1800m on her home track looks ideal so think she has to be respected.

Long Shot

10 Blacklog (Bet Now: $81.00) is a four start maiden for Scott Morrisey who is working up to a win. Whether it’s here I’m not sure but it’s his home track and he’s got upside. Ran over 1400m here last start and closed off well to run fourth in a race which has produced two winners, including dominant Sunny Coast victor Sunday Session. That does read quite well for this.

Race 3. () Visit Aquisfarm.com Handicap (90) 1800m

Back Me

Chris Waller is very good at picking out horses from Sydney who will appreciate life up north so I’ll side with 6 Miss Shanti (Bet Now: $4.20). She ran over 2200m at Warwick Farm last time where she tried very hard under Sam Weatherley but the stablemate Devil’s Lair just proved too good in a close finish. Like her back to 1800m on the fresh side and this isn’t a strong race at all.

Danger

3 Prioritise (Bet Now: $3.60) is on the seven day back up for Steve Tregea after racing in the Bernborough last Saturday at Doomben where he was well specked at odds but couldn’t quite finish it off behind stablemate and surprise winner Bergerac. Think up in trip, down in grade/depth will suit and if he brought his best form, he’d be right in the game for sure.

Long Shot

1 Articus (Bet Now: $4.00) should love the drop in grade/depth after contesting the Villiers last time where it was an ugly watch if you were on. Not sure he would have figured in the finish but clearly should have finished much closer behind Sky Boy. Firmer footing and up to 1800m, I think class will carry him a long way towards victory.

Race 4. () Race With Aquis Handicap (80) 2200m

Back Me

5 High Power (Bet Now: $4.20) just needs to run the trip out strongly to be beating these I think. Kris Lees trains this bloke, who has been performing really well in NSW recently, the latest run over 1900m under the lights at Canterbury when working to the line strongly to run third to Dylan’s Romance. Gate one, D Browne on…looks the perfect recipe for success.

Danger

7 Exilia Miss (Bet Now: $18.00) is a Striling Osland trained mare who is ticking over quite well and does bring different form. Ran over 1900m on her home track at Armidale last start where she got well back but saved ground, poked her way through and launched late to just miss out on picking up Baroque Girl. Was 2200-1900 that day so back up to 2200m should suit her.

Long Shot

10 Cruz De Vega (Bet Now: $19.00) is a lightly raced daughter of Lope De Vega for Michael Costa who should be suited up in trip on her home track. Ran over 1800m at the Sunny Coast last time and was left flat footed when the sprint went on but was more than sound late in a bunched finish won by Bochy. She’s racing as if the extra ground will suit, she’s on her home track and the stable is flying.

Race 5. () Spill The Beans Yearlings Handicap 1200m

Back Me

I think the drop back in depth should see 1 Tyzone (Bet Now: $2.80) bounce back into the winners list. He has contested several key Summer Carnival races this time in and has run okay but probably not to the level that he was running at last time in. Think the extra week off, back in grade and back onto his home track, he looks extremely hard to beat against these.

Danger

7 Mogador (Bet Now: $14.00) is going to win a race this prep. Don’t think it will be this race but he should be respected all the same. Resumed at Doomben where he got a mile back in the run from the wide gate but finished off with real purpose late behind Ours To Keep. Run prior ran third to subsequent Stakes winner From Within and that does read well for this.

Long Shot

3 Dream Finnish (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Michael Nolan trained mare that resumes. Very capable on her day and she’s a definite watch first up. had three runs in the Spring and bumped into wet tracks, which isn’t her go. Very good first up record, will get a dry track, and if they can run on from the back, I think she has to go in all multiples. Just needs a bit of luck.

Back Me

I think the Magic Millions picture could change a fraction after this race and I am tipping 9 Exhilarates (Bet Now: $4.00) to get her way into the field with a win here. She ran in the Wyong Magic Millions where she got well off the pace and probably wasn’t entirely happy on the tight track but found the line strongly to run second to Unite And Conquer. Bigger track, gaining more experience, in the right stable…keen on her chances.

Danger

3 Betaima (Bet Now: $5.50) is in the Magic Millions field and will use this as a pipe opener for next week. She hasn’t raced since December 1 when showing brilliant sustained speed from the front to lead all the way and win the Sizzling Plate. On her home track, should find the front and be very hard to run down, both here and then next week in the big one.

Long Shot

5 Lubuk (Bet Now: $8.00) is a son of I Am Invincible for Chris Waller who had specking when debuting in the Phelan Ready at Doombgen three weeks ago and I thought he was far from disgraced when closing off from the back to run a close up fourth to The Odyssey, and that form has been franked via Sun City. On his home track, should take good improvement from the debut and is certainly a threat.

Race 7. () Follow @AquisFarm On Twitter Handicap 1200m

Back Me

9 Snow Valley (Bet Now: $3.10) looks an above average filly for Matty Dunn who I think can make it 3/3 here. Resumed at Lismore in what looked a soft 58 for the females and she made them look like camels, showing a nice turn of foot late and drawing clear to win impressively. Clearly her toughest test to date here, but the way she attacks the line, I think she’ll measure up.

Danger

1 Unconditional (Bet Now: $9.50) should just about be ready to show his best third up from a spell. Unlucky resumption behind Archer’s Paradox before racing at Eagle Farm and again not getting much luck but by the same token he had his chance when behind Doss. Lloyd jumps back aboard and at his best he’d go close to beating these. Giving him one more chance.

Long Shot

4 Spending My Time (Bet Now: $9.50) is another with upside that should improve. Paul Nolan Jr trains this three year old, who resumed over 1200m at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago where the market said he might need the run and that is how it panned out, with the son of Jet Spur getting back and running on but never a winning threat. Different set up this time around and has the run under the belt.

Race 8. () Subscribe To Aquis Farm On Youtube Plate (Class 6) 1400m

Back Me

I think the best version of 3 Snitz (Bet Now: $5.00) would be too good for this lot. Resumed at Doomben three weeks ago and stuck to the task really well in defeat in what was a bunched finish, running fourth to Impregnable, beaten under a length. I think up to 1400m is perfect, suited on the bigger track, and with clear air to let down, I think he’s one of the hardest to beat.

Danger

9 Oink…(Bet Now: $3.80) brave if you back him to win, but concede he’s a threat. Ran over 1400m at Eagle Farm two weeks back and worked to the line well without threatening when fourth to the in form Cadogan. If it wasn’t Oink, you’d say a win is very close…but he’s just turned it up too many times to put him on top hence why he is here, but should run well once again.

Long Shot

5 Auerbach (Bet Now: $13.00) faces his toughest test to date for Chris Waller but the horse is in career best form at the moment. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1350m at Doomben where he was well backed late and the punters got it spot on as he proved too good. Bluebrook has franked that form and this horse has run well at the Gold Coast in the past. Certainly appeals.

Race 9. () Aquis Chinese Jockey Club Handicap (0MW) 1200m

Back Me

Wouldn’t say he’s reliable but 5 Dream Master (Bet Now: $4.50) is a horse in a purple patch for Toby Edmonds and in a tricky race, I’ll lean his way. Toughed it out strongly to win two back at the Gold Coast before going to Doomben where he was on speed and fought hard to get the win narrowly, then surviving a protest. Good record on his home track and should take some beating.

Danger

4 Unlikely Story (Bet Now: $3.70) is a Tony Gollan trained son of Star Witness who won a couple on the bounce in impressive fashion before going to Eagle Farm a fortnight back where he just got a mile off them and was never really in the hunt behind Desert Man. He’s much better than what he showed last time so give him another chance against these.

Long Shot

16 True Myth (Bet Now: $15.00) is two weeks between runs for Michael Costa after running here in a weaker race where on face value she was quite disappointing behind Muddy Rope but I just think the race didn’t suit her. The track was a tad sticky that afternoon and she didn’t seem entirely happy on it. Back on firmer footing, she can be more effective.
