I WAS off on Thursday, so what else would I do than get stuck into the form on Sun Racing.
I plonked myself in front of the roaring fire, popped on my slippers and studied the runners as my wife prepared the Beef Wellington.
1.40 Donny Greybougg – I stumbled across this chap just after I finished the crossword. He looks terribly-well handicapped and should have appreciated his pipe opener at Newbury. Nigel Hawke has his team in terrific nick and I like the booking of Danny Cook.
12.25 Star Ascending – I’ll still be out catching supper as Southwell gets underway but I should be back with a pheasant or three by the time this good thing goes off. Course form is a must at Southwell and this six-year-old has won over course and distance. It’s not a great race and Jennie Candlish is having a whale of a time.
Bully’s Friday Bankers
1.40 Doncaster – Greybougg
12.25 Southwell – Star Ascending
1.50 Newbury – La Bague Au Roi
6.45 Newcastle – Melgate Majeure
1.50 La Bague Au Roi – She won’t be much of a price but how good was this mare last time out. I had to fetch the wife to rewind it for me she was that good! She faces Lostintranslation again tomorrow, and although she gets less weight this time, I don’t think the swing is enough for her to get beat.
6.45 Melgate Majeure – I’d have had a few Ports by the time Mick Easterby saddles up this banker. He beat a solid horse for the grade last time and my good chum the handicapper hasn’t caught up with him yet.
