Owned and trained by Wesley Ward, Bound for Nowhere bounced right back from his Royal Ascot placing to win Saturday’s $750,000 Tourist Mile at Kentucky Downs.
Opening his 4-year-old season with an allowance win at Turfway Park, Bound for
Nowhere picked up his first stakes win in Keeneland’s Grade 2 Shakertown before
traveling with the Ward contingent to the Royal Ascot meeting. There Bound for Nowhere
held his own, finishing third in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee behind Merchant Navy
and City Light.
In the Tourist Mile, Bound for Nowhere sat off the pace of longshot Great Wide
Open before rounding the turn and drawing clear to win. Great Wide Open held on
for second while the favorite, Mr. Misunderstood, grabbed third.
It was the fifth win in eight starts for Bound for
Nowhere, with all five victories coming in Kentucky.
