Timeform take you through the card at Carlisle on Sunday…
“…will be suited by this longer trip today…”
Timeform on First Account
12:20 – This looks a good opportunity for EARLSOFTHECOTSWOLDS (3), who was useful in bumpers, and made an encouraging start over hurdles at Market Rasen last month. Admittedly, there is room for improvement with his jumping, but it will be disappointing if he doesn’t come out on top here. Lord Springfield and fairly useful Flat recruit Near Kettering may give him most to think about.
12:50 – XPO UNIVERSAL (5) has suddenly found the winning habit having gone 70 races without success, and he’s back over fences on a very handy mark, so he should take some stopping in his current mood. Ballasalla is bred to excel over these obstacles and is feared most.
13:20 – This looks a match between FIRST ACCOUNT (4) and One For Rosie, and it is the former who gets the nod having shaped well in a race that is working out well on Rules debut when finishing third at this course in October. Both the first and the second in that race have come out and won again since, and First Account will be suited by this longer trip today.
13:55 – Now that Spider’s Bite is a non runner, it could be worth taking a chance on REVERANT CUST (5), who made a winning start over fences on his return from seven months off at Catterick recently. He won with a bit in hand that day, too, jumping adequately and pulling nicely clear from the remainder. He is preferred to fellow last-time-out winner Trongate.
14:25 – The evidence is mounting up that MAC N CHEESE (9) isn’t as good over fences as hurdles, often let down by his jumping in that sphere, as he was when well beaten on his return from eight months off at Ayr last month. That run is best overlooked and his mark remains a workable one, just 2 lb higher than when winning at Kelso last season, and he looks a good value bet here for the bang in-form Keith Dalgleish.
15:00 – LOUGH DERG FARMER (3) remains relatively unexposed over fences after just three starts, and ran his best race in this sphere when finishing second at Uttoxeter last time, seeming to benefit from a more aggressive ride. This will be just his fourth start for new connections and, although he has his quirks, he looks up to winning races from his current mark, and is preferred to Kilcullen Flem.
15:30 – ROSIE AND MILLIE’s (2) response to pressure last time was a bit worrying but she certainly possesses a fair level of ability and has to be the percentage call up against 3 unknown quantities.
