RHAEGAR (1.40 Bangor) didn’t take to Lingfield last time but was earlier in blistering form when winning at Southwell and Richard Johnson is an eyecatching booking.
He loved the 3m distance on similar ground when scoring on October and is taking a drop in class from that disappointing effort.
He looks capable of scoring off this mark and there are plenty of holes in his rivals’ form today.
TITIAN BOY (2.00 Ayr) showed some promise when fifth at Newcastle last time and comes from a yard that has been firing in the winners. It’s interesting to see him back on the course within a few days of that effort and connections clearly feel he’ll cope with another run so quickly.
He has come right down the weights and would be capable of winning this if showing anything like his best.
FRENCHY DU LARGE (3.55 Bangor) made a good start to his career when second on debut at Warwick last time out.
He was a long way clear of the third horse home and comes from a family that has produced lots of winners at this level.
He should appreciate this longer distance and Venetia Williams has her horses in excellent form.
Wizard’s magic tips…
EACH-WAY DOUBLE: IWILLDOIT (2.50 Bangor) ran better than his odds of 100-1 at Chepstow last time and is capable of hitting the frame on this handicap debut. Pair him with RIVER GLADES (3.40 Newcastle) who was a good second at Hamilton when last seen and has moved to a capable new trainer.
PAPARAZZI (4.10 Newcastle) has a 6lb penalty for a convincing win over course and distance last time — and that shouldn’t put the brakes on.
He managed to overcome missing the break by several lengths there to win going away. A more level start today would help but he’s proven in the grade and looks hard to beat.
