SKANDIBURG (12.30 Kelso) won a bumper in October and has taken well to hurdles with a third at Wetherby followed by a convincing win at Fakenham last time out.
He skipped away from his rivals there and the winning margin could have been further.
This is a slightly stronger race but he should improve for the experience and has a lot more to offer.
ENCORE CHAMPS (1.00 Kelso) found an Ascot Grade 2 a bit too much last time out and will be much happier against these rivals.
He has earlier looked a real hurdling prospect when winning on his timber debut at Wetherby in November.
He has few miles on the clock and Richard Johnson takes over in the saddle, which increases his chances of success.
AZARI (1.55 Southwell) is upped in class today but has been a good winner on his past two runs over course and distance so will take some stopping.
His most recent victory was the best as he put a seven-length gap between him and his rivals and it could have been more.
He shoulders a 6lb penalty today, which shouldn’t be enough to stop him running another big race.
A Magic Double…
EACH-WAY DOUBLE: KING CHRISTOPHE (2.30 Southwell) took well to this fibresand surface on his debut on it last time, just running out of petrol over the 1m4f trip. He drops to a mile here which gives him stronger claims.
Pair him with BROKEN WINGS (3.00 Southwell) who was a close-up fourth here last time and has had a little help from the handicapper.
GROUNDUNDERREPAIR (3.10 Kelso) caught the eye on his chasing debut when fifth at Uttoxeter last time out.
He jumped well and held his own for a long way in a decent novice event.
He goes handicapping from what looks a fair mark and he can show his good hurdling form over these bigger obstacles.
