MIGHT BITE should knock his rivals down in the Betway Bowl.
The King George hero only conceded Gold Cup defeat to Native River up the run-in at Cheltenham on ground far too testing.
If he’s over those exertions the rain-soaked turf shouldn’t stop him this time.
Bristol De Mai 3/5
Mai or may not. No doubting his class and the ground conditions will be much more to his liking compared to when fifth in this last year. Flopped in King George and behind Definitly Red last time. Could bounce back but enough to prove.
Clan Des Obeaux 2/5
Don’t join the Clan. Has plenty of potential but it’s unfulfilled at present. Nice Haydock win came on heavy ground and there was nothing wrong with his Cheltenham handicap second in December. Needs to prove he’s up to this level.
Definitly Red 3/5
Definitly maybe. Put himself in the Gold Cup picture with impressive trial win in January. Had his ground at Cheltenham so it was disappointing to see him check out so tamely. Questions to answer now.
Double Shuffle 3/5
Double your money. Failed to stay when pulled up in last year’s Grand National. Got within a length of Might Bite when runner-up in the King George. Will be fresh after missing the Gold Cup due to the ground and place claims despite conditions being softer than ideal.
Templegate’s pinstickers tip
Might Bite 4/5
Take a Bite. Looked set for Gold Cup glory before the conditions sapped his stamina up the final climb. Won at Cheltenham and Aintree last year and has had nearly four weeks to recover from the Festival. If he’s anywhere near peak form he’ll win.
Sizing Codelco 1/5
Cod’s had his chips. Won handicaps at Aintree and Punchestown last spring. Dreadful form this season on softer ground and he was 50-1 when pulled up in the Ultima Chase at Cheltenham last month.

Sub Lieutenant 2/5
Sub sunk. Won his first two races after joining Henry de Bromhead last season but without a victory since. Yet to win beyond 2m4f and was well beaten in the Ryanair Chase at the Festival. Hard to get excited about.
Tea For Two 2/5
Tea leave. Enjoyed his finest hour when beating Cue Card in this race 12 months ago. Better going right-handed as he showed when third behind Might Bite in the King George. Sure to find this tougher than last year.
