Nick Shiambouros hopes to start the new week with a couple of winners from Leicester and Windsor…
Guns locked and loaded
Over The Guns should prove difficult to beat in this novice auction stakes.
This colt sprang the upset on debut when beating Indian Viceroy over this course in June. Despite showing signs of inexperience, he was produced to lead inside the final furling and won a shade cosily. This was a taking performance, and I will be surprised if he doesn’t defy his penalty. At present he is trading at [2.22] which is just about right.
Stellar Comet could chase the selection home. She was not beaten all that far at Chelmsford earlier this month and is improving with racing. At present she is trading at [5.0] on the exchange.
Hills debutant to score
I am going to take a chance with debutant Athary in this interesting novice stakes.
This Shamardal filly is a half-sister to Derby winner Camelot, and is out of a Dam that won on debut and was a Group 3 winner. There is enough in the pedigree to suggest that she will be forward enough to be competitive at first asking. She is bred to be smart, and I am hoping for a big run. At present she is trading at [8.8] on the exchange.
Petrastar is the favourite at [2.78]. This gelding was only just denied when finishing second to Klassique on debut over this course last month. He is open to further improvement, but is priced accordingly.
The beautifully bred Midi has to enter calculations after disappointing on debut last year.
