Three-length victory was guided by jockey John Davila Jr. at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack

Hit It Once More won the $50,000 Genesee Valley Breeders’ Stakes at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack on Monday.

He recorded the three-length victory in a final time of 1:44.52 for one mile and one-sixteenth route. 

The 5-year-horse owned by Yellow Moon Stables was urged to the early lead by jockey John Davila, Jr. He was able to sustain his speed and hold off rival Winston’s Chance to take the annual stake. 

The Gary Sciacca-trainee won his second FLGR stake. He also scored a six and one-half length triumph in the $164,150 New York Derby on July 23, 2016.

Hit It Once More improved his career earnings to a sum of $553,342. He was the popular choice in the seventh race and paid $4.50, $2.60 and $2.10. Winston’s Chance finished second in the event for the second consecutive year and returned $2.60 and $2.30. Broadway Bay was third and paid $3.70.

The Genesee Valley Breeders’ Association (GVBA) is the oldest thoroughbred breeding organization in the United States. The GVBA awards program is administered by the New York Breeding and Development Fund Corporation, and it continues to provide monies for breeders and stallion awards as well as enhanced purses for registered New York-breds.
