WEDNESDAY’S LIVE ITV4 RACES
AEOLUS had some pretty smart handicapping form to his name last season, including when second in the Stewards’ Cup and just over a length off the pace in a hot Doncaster handicap on his most recent start in late October. He may well have won that but for being blocked off well inside the final furlong. He has plenty of pace for this trip, won’t mind the bit of give in the ground and is well handicapped.
Ekhtiyaar did well last season over this trip, landing a couple of nice wins at HQ. He’s 6lb higher than when scoring in July but went well at Ascot off this mark last time and should run well.
NEBO ran a string of good races as a two-year-old and finished the season by winning the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes over this trip at Newbury. He also chased home some fancy performers including when second to Gustav Klimt in the Superlative Stakes here. Provided that campaign hasn’t taken too much out of him for this season, he looks a real contender and he goes well fresh.
Snazzy Jazzy created a good impression as a juvenile with three wins from three starts. His latest, in a big-field sales race at The Curragh was particularly impressive. He should improve for this step up in trip.
RAMSES DE TEILLEE didn’t get home in the Ultima at the Festival last time out, with the 3m1f trip proving a little on the stretching side. The ground is better today and the drop back by half a mile looks a wise move. He looked a threat jumping the third last and handled the track well enough. A 3lb drop in the weights does no harm either. This is such a tough race though and there are dangers galore.
Frodon will find this easier than the Ryanair Chase he was thrown into at the Festival. He had earlier run a solid third in Grade 1 company at Ascot after winning a big Grade 3 handicap over course and distance in January. He was impressive that day and is only 6lb higher here.
DEAUVILLE is taking a fair drop in class here after ending the season running in big races abroad, albeit with little success. He was beaten less than a length in the Grade 1 Arlington Million which looks strong form in the context of this race. His highlight in the UK came when third in the Queen Anne Stakes behind Ribchester over a mile. This trip is no problem and anything like that form would be good enough.
If he’s off his game, Frankuus had his moments last term, including when winning the Rose Of Lancaster at Haydock. He was kept on the go a bit too long and will be fresh after a break.3.35
Provided ALTYN ORDA handles this softer ground, she will take all the beating after winning the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes here last time out in October. She got up right on the line there and this step up from 7f looks a wise move. She’s had just three runs so you would expect plenty of improvement.
Threading is dropping in class after finding the Cheveley Park Stakes a bit much on her most recent outing in September. Mark Johnston’s filly had earlier won the Lowther Stakes really well at York so the talent is there. This is just her fourth outing so there could well be progression to come.
