Timeform take you through the card at Kempton on Wednesday evening.
“…Richard Hughes’ charge can confirm he is still a useful operator on the all-weather…”
Timeform on Mr Minerals
17:45 – CHLOELLIE (5) pulled too hard under a 7 lb claimer last time but has Franny Norton, who was on board for her C&D win in January, back in the plate and she is taken to show she’s still on a good mark in this opening leg of the Placepot. Mimram should have the speed to cope with the drop back in trip and heads the dangers along with Pat Phelan’s recent C&D second Dolydaydream.
18:15 – VICE MARSHAL (8) proved better than ever to open his account at Lingfield two months ago, looking better the further he went and leaving the impression he may want further than this now. The potential lack of pace is a concern here, therefore, but Vice Marshal raced more positively himself last time, and could prove hard to peg back if the in-form James Doyle (four winners from last eight rides) tries to dictate matters, with the prospect of more to come after a gelding operation, too.
18:45 – MR MINERALS (1) shaped better than the bare result when sixth over C&D last month, travelling strongly before the lack of a recent run began to tell over a furlong out, and, likely to be sharper for that outing, Richard Hughes’ charge can confirm he is still a useful operator on the all-weather and resume winning ways. Mordin didn’t beat much on debut, but the fact he went off such a short price suggests he’s well regarded and he can give the selection most to do ahead of Know Your Limit.
19:15 – REVOLUTIONARY MAN (3) may have been beaten over 10 lengths when third on his latest outing at Chelmsford, but there was no disgrace in that given the subsequent exploits of the pair that beat him, namely Gronkowksi, who has won three times since including a listed race, and next-time-out winner Big Kitten (by five lengths). Revolutionary Man is open to more progress himself after a break and could be worth chancing for Placepot purposes, likely to prove much better than an opening mark of 75 in time.
19:45 – MASQUERADE BLING (6) has been given a bit of a chance by the handicapper (now 1 lb lower than when a close second at Lingfield in December) and gets a tentative vote in a tight race. Last week’s Chelmsford scorer Sonnet Rose can give another good account of herself.
20:15 – EXCEEDING POWER (1) was better than ever when making a successful reappearance at Lingfield four weeks ago and can defy a 3 lb rise in this concluding leg of the Placepot, with the step up to this trip for the first time expected to suit. Kazawi had heavy ground as an excuse when turned over at short odds at Lingfield on his final three-year-old start and is unexposed now handicapping on return, while Sonnetist is also likely to be on the premises again.
20:45 – BIRD FOR LIFE (6) has a much more solid recent record than the rest of these and can deservedly get her head back in front. Wally’s Wisdom will be a threat if back to the form he showed when winning here on his penultimate start, while Thahab Ifraj took a step back in the right direction last time and is fairly treated if building upon that.
21:15 – ILEY BOY (1) is still eligible for this 0-55 level despite three recent wins and there’s every chance he can go in again. Lady of York made a good return to action when narrowly denied at Chelmsford a couple of weeks ago and is likely to be in the thick of things again. Spiritofedinburgh may prove best of the remainder.
