A new lottery game is coming to horse country.
The Kentucky Lottery will soon be testing Win Place Show, a new game based on live horse racing.
The man behind the game said he hopes it brings a new element of excitement.
“This is intended to be a little added fun to your day,” EquiLottery CEO Brad Cummings said. “The race will be about 5 o’clock each day. What a great way to end your work day. Get a ticket, watch a race and maybe you’ll win up to $1,800.”
Win Place Show is a 90-day roll out testing in Louisville, Lexington and Northern Kentucky. Beginning in March, players can go into a lottery retailer and ask for a Win Place Show ticket. The player will be given three numbers with a horse name, and basic track information and post time.
“It’s a completely randomized pick. It’s still very much a lottery game. It’s a game of pure chance. Players cannot pick their numbers, but they get to watch an exciting live horse race as a lottery reveal,” Cummings said.
Players can watch the race live on the game’s free mobile app, online or at a lottery ticket scanner.
Cummings said beyond bringing excitement, his hope is the game will help education in the state, while shining a light on a sport the Bluegrass State loves.
“What we’re hoping is that this game will create new excitement to the lottery experience,” Cummings said.
The pilot test begins March, 24, 2019, at 15 locations in Northern Kentucky.
The locations will be announced when they are finalized.
