The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has canceled live racing Jan. 24 at Aqueduct Racetrack due to high winds forecast to impact the New York City area throughout the day.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory, flash flood watch, and coastal flood advisory for Thursday with current forecasts calling for sustained damaging winds throughout the afternoon with gusts in excess of 40 mph. As a result, NYRA has cancelled today’s live racing program in the best interests of all participants.
Aqueduct Racetrack and the Belmont Café will remain open Thursday for simulcasting and online wagering is available through NYRA Bets.
Live racing is scheduled to resume at Aqueduct Friday, Jan. 25 with a nine-race card highlighted by the 98th running of the $100,000 Interborough for fillies and mares 4-years-old and up going seven furlongs. First-race post time is 12:25 p.m.
