Timeform pick out three bets from Doncaster on Saturday…
“…he can improve further still stepping back up in trip…”
Timeform on Austrian School
New Winds looked a potentially useful filly when making a winning debut at Newmarket a fortnight ago and she’ll take some stopping despite a penalty. She brushed aside a well-backed Godolphin runner and the manner of that victory suggests she can follow up before going on to even better things. San Donato bumped into a Royal Ascot-bound performer on debut and is the obvious threat unless a newcomer is well-above average, which could be the case with Alfurat River.
Austrian School theoretically has a bit to find with Jeremiah at these revised weights, but Mark Johnston’s colt has since improved again and is the type to go on progressing for a while yet. He impressed with his attitude last time, going in snatches but finding plenty to prevail by half a length, and he can improve further still stepping back up in trip. A case can be made for several of these in what is certain to prove strong three-year-old handicap form, with Urbino on the shortlist.
Mootasadir defied a penalty in much more impressive fashion than the bare margin suggests at Wolverhampton last time and can is fancied to extend his unbeaten run to three. His pedigree suggests that this switch to turf won’t be a problem and an opening mark of 88 could well underestimate him. Odds On Oli and Glorious Army look best of the others.
