TUESDAY is a busy one with four cards to get stuck into – and we’ve picked out our best bets for each meeting.
With a top class weekend of Group 1 races over and done with, it’s back to normality with the feature fare coming from Hamilton.
3.30 – Roy Rocket: Popular grey has been around the seaside track for years and struck in fine style under an amateur last time. Gets the services of a professional now and can follow up under a six pound penalty.
2.00 – Born To Boogie: Seems to be getting the hang of things for his new yard and was unlucky at the track last time. Granted a clearer run, he can score here.
3.45 – First Flight: Seven-year-old won a competitive handicap on debut for Brian Ellison and is nicely handicapped based on his form in the past. A five pound rise for that win is more than manageable.
5.15 – Imperial Legend: Scored in good style at the track on his penultimate but never got into it at Wetherby last time. The track clearly suits and he’s only two pounds higher for that victory.
8.15 – Alexanderthegreat: William Haggas’ well-bred three-year-old has been very poor in maidens thus far in his career but has the potential to do a lot better now sent into handicaps. Likely to prove a different proposition now off an opening mark of 54.
9.15 – Smashed: It could be a good evening for Haggas-trained handicap debutants and this one can strike in first-time cheek-pieces. The step up in trip will help this well-bred sort get off the mark.
6.30 – Carntop: A very smart horse on the flat who was once fancied for the Derby. Underwhelming debut over hurdles last year but this is much easier and has had a wind operation.
8.30 – Exitas: Put together some nice performances over hurdles of late and is a much better chaser. If back to his best off top weight could take some beating.
