X Factor’s Louis Tomlinson has secured places in this Saturday’s final for two of his acts.

Both Dalton Harris and Anthony Russell from the 26-year-old former One Direction star’s boys category will be battling it out against Scarlett Lee this weekend.

But what could possibly be the secret to his success?

While Robbie Williams, who’s set to reunite with Take That for the final, took a break from the ITV competition earlier this month due to prior commitments he’d made before taking on the show, Louis has been hard at work behind the scenes according to eliminated act Brendan Murray.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the singer revealed just how hands on his mentor has been throughout the show, telling us: ‘Louis has been great.

‘He’s been in the house with us every day. He spends about three or four hours with us trying to get the right song. He has his own vocal coach, Helena, who was with him during One Direction too.

‘He’s put a lot of time into us which is very nice to see.’

The contestant, who’s holding on hope to getting a record deal in the future, also told us how his friendship with Louis goes beyond just mentor to mentee, adding: What he said to me after I left was, “I’m a friend for life now” and he was like, “if you ever want advice – not even music related advice just let me know.”’

Brendan’s comments come just days after X Factor fans stormed Twitter claiming that it was Louis’ loyal fan base voting for his acts, with one person writing: ‘X Factor is a mess. One Direction fans rigging the voting in favour of Louis Tomlinson’s acts,’ while another blasted: Totally unfair if the One Direction fans get Louis’ boys through this week.’

It looks like one of Louis’ talent is set to win the series too, with Betfair tipping Dalton as this year’s king at 1/4.

Spokesperson Katie Baylis told us: ‘Dalton Harris has been a huge favourite with punters for weeks with us and even with the final this weekend is miles ahead of the other two when it comes to backing and support.

‘He’s odds-on at 1/4 and it’s hard to see Anthony or Scarlett coming close to him. Anthony is currently at 9/2 with Scarlett the outsider at 8/1.

‘Dalton is such a big favourite that we even have a “winner without Dalton” market up, something we do in horse racing when a horse is such a big favourite that the race looks like, well…a one horse race, which it’s like looking for the X Factor final.’
