Our experts give you an early shot at finding a winner as they look at the major races around the nation this weekend.

Last week … Five winners. Brad Davidson landed the double with his best bet Easy Eddie ($1.60) and value tip Samadoubt ($9.80) saluting. Ray Thomas made it four best bet winners on the bounce with Gresham ($2.20), while Nick Quinn was on target for the third week in a row (Mastering, $1.80). Chris Vernuccio has gone for a spell in good form after steering punters into Lamborghini ($5.90).

FLEMINGTON (9 races, start 12.30pm), GOLD COAST (9 races, 12.40pm), RANDWICK (9 races, 12.55pm), GAWLER (8 races, 3.07pm), PINJARRA PARK (8 races, 3.51pm).

NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 71173

MANICURE (Race 6, No. 5 — $2.90)

Beat a similar class field first-up at Doomben. Significantly, her ratings have improved second-up at each preparation. Even holding her first-up rating might be good enough for this, so any improvement will make her terribly hard to beat.

Value bet: SAMBRO (Race 9, No. 5 — $7.50)

RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegragh). Form: 21111

HEMMERLE (Race 2, No. 1 — $2.10)

He was doing his best work on the line when a first-up third to Our Rosemaree in a Rosehill 1400m Highway before being edged out in a thrilling finish by Moobi in a Warwick Farm 1600m Highway. The Randwick 1600m suits and he just needs a touch of luck early from the wide gate. This looks his race.

Value bet: SIKHING GLORY (Race 3, No. 4 — $7)

MATT JONES (Daily Telegraph). Form: 1311x

TURNBERRY (Race 8, No. 1 — $3.80)

This horse has to be one of the toughest going around in Sydney. He’s such a fighter and from a good gate he’ll get a nice run and if one is good enough to get past him it will be the winner.

Value bet: LETTER TO JULIETTE (Race 4, No. 2 — $41)

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 44454

EXCELTIC (Race 1, No. 8 — $12)

Was placed in the Canonbury and the Pierro Plate at his first two runs and beaten 1.3 lengths in the Rosebud. Returned to winning form when he ran straight past them from the back at Gosford, and Randwick will suit him even better. Has 53kg — down 4kg on that win.

Value bet: COLLATERAL (Race 9, No. 2 — $51)

DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 512×2

TURNBERRY (Race 8, No. 1 — $3.80)

Form has been solid this campaign, including a close third to Live And Free last start. Will give a big sight.

Value bet: EXCELTIC (Race 1, No. 8 — $12)

MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 1782x

ORDER OF COMMAND (Race 7, No. 7 — $2.50)

Loves the straight having won his past two starts there and he looks nicely placed in this with D. Oliver aboard and carrying 54kg.

Value bet: HOLBIEN (Race 8, No. 10 — $7.50)

SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 10179

SILENTZ (Race 3, No. 5 — $2.50)

Up in class but comes off huge Caulfield win and gets a big drop in weight. Looks a great chance.

Value bet: MR MONEY BAGS (Race 8, No. 13 — $5)

NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 32111

MASCULINO (Race 5, No. 3 — $2.25)

Distance specialist who has two wins and two seconds over the 2000m. Won well over the journey two starts ago and is in well at the weights after the claim for Zac Spain.

Value bet: ARBEITSAM (Gold Coast Race 9, No. 2 — $5)

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 54126

CROWN FONTEIN (Race 8, No. 4 — $3.60)

Super impressive leading throughout last time and looks a horse with a very big future. Should jump straight to the lead again here and is sure to take a power of beating.

Value bet: BRONSKI (Race 2, No. 6 — $5)
