Picks made Friday for fast track and on turf.
8 – Jane Ran a Double: Nice win last race, now goes into strong Sharp barn first out.
7 – Commanding Action: Takes the necessary drop and piloted by hot jockey in Murrill.
4 – Unfading Beauty: Might get overlooked but dirt form sure looks better than most here.
5 – Mix and Mingle: Has shown speed in both starts; likely to be prominent from start.
2 – Shanikos Secret: Has run the distance with some success; should make one big run.
7 – Bowknot Billy: Prep at sprint sets him up nicely for a pressing trip behind speed.
4 – It’s Mikes Turn: Last wasn’t too bad; has win over dirt here; hot rider to bring home.
7 – Jake the Band Man: This one is running well; needs to turn tables on top choice though.
2 – A Place Remembered: Speed has been pretty good on turf past week-plus.
7 – Personal Double: Seems like there is something here; speed first then a close and price.
IF OFF TURF – 2-7
4 – Warrior Inside: Nothing wrong with debut run; took some trouble and ran well.
11 – Mischieveous Dancer: Claim and run back on dirt sprinting for an Into Mischief ++.
5 – Take the Count: Should love the green stuff and is taking significant drop in class here.
7 – Come on Dover: Another taking a drop in class who has shown some signs of life.
IF OFF TURF 7-5
8 – Stellas Surprise: First-time starter has shown some zip in the morning workouts
11 – Emily Jo: A bit tardy from gate then got into the race nicely; improves today.
9 – Fashion’s Touch: Likely to get diploma today and graduate to the ranks of winners.
7 – Concord Coupe: Trainer having a great meet; comes in with good works and gate jock.
9 – Charge the Line: Big wins in past two; bit of a layoff; would move up on dirt if off turf.
5 – Zippy: Game little win a week ago; keeps jockey; comes back in winning form.
IF OFF TURF – 9 – 6
8 – Anything but Amie: Beaten favorite in past two; nothing wrong with either effort.
5 – Saintly Cry: Drops down to get a win; was showing a bit of speed in previous starts.
Around the Track
Eleven races on the penultimate card to the season ender Saturday. Rain was falling in New Orleans as this was written up but the turf races might stay on the turf with only two cards remaining. Kudos to the track superintendent this year for keeping the turf course in great shape and to management for running more than a few races on the “soft”/”yielding” turf. The turf track is a significant attraction for owners and horsemen during the winter and hopefully more stables will discover the consistent main track and turf course for next year’s meet.
Our Best Bet today will be in Race 7 — No. 5 Take the Count. Trainer Howard having a good meet and sent out nice winner Wednesday too.
Good Luck and may they all come home safely.
