BLAKERIGG (2.50 Doncaster) came back from a break looking a different horse when winning well at Ayr last time out.

The handicapper has shoved him up 9lb for that smooth success but he appeared to have a lot more than that in hand.

He wasn’t stopping at the end of the extended 2m4f distance there so this slight hike in trip shouldn’t be a problem.

NOVABRIDGE (11.50 Southwell) has won recently in much better races than this and was less than a length off the pace over course and distance last time out.

The drop down to selling level should help and he’s just 3lb higher than when winning at Newcastle three starts ago.

He should be right on the premises again with his rider’s 3lb claim another bonus.

KATESON (1.20 Newbury) was a good performer at bumper level with a close-up second in a Grade 2 event at Aintree in April.

He showed plenty of that quality when getting on his hurdles debut at Chepstow last time out.

He was coming back from seven months off there so you would expect a fair bit of improvement for the outing.

He relishes this distance and will have no problem with the cut in the ground.

Wizard’s magic tips…

EACH-WAY DOUBLE: MOMELLA (3.00 Newbury) has a fairly tough assignment on her comeback but his form last season was excellent and she looks open to further improvement.

Pair her with VIVE LE ROI (3.35 Newbury) who was beaten on the nod in a good race at Cheltenham last time out.

TOP TEAM: Kieran O’Neill has a 100% win record for Gavin Patrick Cromwell over the past two years.

They team up with EARL OF BUNNACURRY (2.40) and MAAJMEH DAWN (3.15) at Southwell today.

EARL OF BUNNACURRY (2.40 Southwell) has every chance of landing a hat-trick under a 6lb penalty.

He landed the first of his victories over this course and distance before following up with a bit more to spare than the official winning margin at Wolverhampton last time.

The extra weight means he has to produce a little more today but he looks capable of managing that.
