Nick Shiambouros was on the mark yesterday when his best bet Boerhan dead heated for the win. Nick returns to Newbury with two more selections…
Time for Algo to shine
Algometer is my idea of the winner of this fascinating contest.
This five-year-old finished an excellent second to Marmelo in a Group 2 at Lonchchamp last month. He kept on really well in the closing stages, but could not get to grips with the game winner. This was his best effort this term and should move forward. He has the form in the book to take this, and this lightly raced individual is attractively priced at [7.2] on the exchange.
Hamada is the current favourite at [3.8] on the exchange. He is a progressive sort, and was a wide margin winner of a handicap at HQ last month. This is tougher, but may have enough improvement to be involved.
Dancelot loves this trip
Sir Dancelot should make his presence felt in this Group 2 event.
This talented gelding got the better of Suedois in the Lennox Stakes at Goiodwood last month. After meeting interference a furlong from home, be burst through to take the lead in the shadow of the post. He only won by a short head, but was value for more. Seven furlongs is his optimum distance and comes in to this race in good order. I think he is sitting on a big effort and is fairly priced at [5.0] on the exchange.
It is no surprise to see Gustav Klimt trading at [3.4] on the exchange. He has not been disgraced in the highest company this season, but connections have decided to drop him in class. He has plenty going for him, but has regressed a little in my opinion. I have no interest in him at this price.
