OUR experts give you an early shot at finding a winner as they look at the major races around the nation this weekend.

Last week … Six winners. Michael Manley claimed the double with his best bet Brutal ($1.55) and value bet Faatinah ($7.20) both saluting at the Valley. Glenn McFarlane was also a Brutal fan. Matt Jones steered punters into Danawi ($5), while Ray Thomas, Stephen Zammit, John Davis and Nick Quinn stuck with Godolpohin import Avilius ($1.80). Darren Prendergast got punters off to a good start with his value bet All Too Soon ($8.60) winning the opener at Rosehill. Nathan Exelby also hit the target with Hold The Line ($2.20).

ROYAL RANDWICK (9 races, start 12.10pm), CAULFIELD (9 races, 12.30pm), SUNSHINE COAST (9 races, 12.57pm), MORPHETTVILLE PARKS (8 races, 1.16pm), BELMONT (8 races, 2.38pm)

RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 1×111

PIERATA (Race 6, No. 4 — $3.30)

Resumed with an outstanding win over Kementari in the Missile Stakes a month ago. The four-year-old had a barrier trial at Rosehill last week which he won with ease. Has drawn ideally in barrier two and jockey James McDonald can give him the run of the race.

Value bet: JUST SHINE (Race 4, No. 4 — $8)

MATT JONES (Daily Telegragh). Form: 22×11

UNFORGOTTEN (Race 7, No. 15 — $3.80)

She returned with a bang in the Winx Stakes and the extra 200m only helps and she’ll be flying home late over the mile.

Value bet: BRIMHAM ROCKS (Race 4, No. 2 — $6.50)

BRAD DAVIDSON (Sky Racing). Form: 1034x

MORE SUNDAYS (Race 1, No. 9 — $2.15)

He is only coming off a Geelong maiden win but this colt looks pretty good. His trial win since in Sydney was outstanding and he is a deserved favourite.

Value bet: OOHOOD (Race 8, No. 1 — $6)

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegragh). Form: 04271

PIERATA (Race 6, No. 4 — $3.30)

An ultra-consistent horse that has been astutely prepared by Greg Hickman. Did the job in great style to beat Kementari in the Missile Stakes here last time out. Kept up to the mark with a win in an 895m Rosehill Gardens barrier trial 11 days ago. Great draw, top jockey — top chance again.

Value bet: SIR PLUSH (Race 9, No. 5 — $7.50)

JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegragh). Form: 13511

CABEZA DE VACA (Race 7, No. 10 — $8)

Boasts a sensational second-up record, winning three of four campaigns. Lost no admirers with his gutsy performance in the Winx Stakes behind the great mare last time, his first tilt in weight-for-age company.

Value bet: SIR PLUSH (Race 9, No. 5 — $7.50)

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 01s12

PRETTY IN PINK (Race 8, No. 8 — $10)

The Sebring filly ran down and cleared away from the speedy milliondollar yearling King on debut at Gosford on Anzac Day. Then she scored an impressive win in the Listed Woodlands at Scone. She looks very good.

Value bet: ANOTHER DOLLAR (Race 9, No. 9 — $12)

DARREN PRENDERGAST (Superracing). Form: 41412

MORE SUNDAYS (Race 1, No. 9 — $2.15)

Heads north after scoring an impressive debut win at Geelong. Stable has a big wrap on the Fastnet Rock colt and Kerrin McEvoy takes the ride. Hard to beat that combo.

Value bet: LANCIATO (Race 6, No. 9 — $7.50)

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 1s322

PIERATA (Race 6, No. 4 — $3.30)

His first-up win was excellent and the four weeks between runs with a trial should see him overcome any flatness from that. Will settle behind the speed from barrier 3.

Value bet: HAPPY CLAPPER (Caulfield, Race 7, No. 1 — $5.50)

NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 11211

MORE SUNDAYS (Race 1, No. 9 — $2.15)

More Joyous son who won stylishly at Geelong on debut. Looked good winning a recent Rosehill barrier trial and should win this on route to the Golden Rose. Is $11 to win the Golden Rose which will firm up drastically should he win here.

Value bet: OOHOOD (Race 8, No. 1 — $6)

MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 01221

CALL ME HANDSOME (Race 5, No. 8 — $3.10)

Had a torrid run last start when faced the breeze three wide throughout. Fought on bravely for fifth. This race is often won by fit horses who race on the speed and he ticks those boxes.

Value bet: BELLARIA (Race 3, No. 9 — $10)

GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun). Form: 0s221

JAAMEH (Race 1, No. 3 — $2.20)

Could hardly have been more impressive last time and might be a Caulfield Cup smoky.

Value bet: JAMAICAN RAIN (Race 9, No. 6 — $6)

SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 437×2

NIGHT’S WATCH (Race 4, No. 9 — $2.40)

Just missed out first up to stablemate at Flemington. Barrier a little concern but should get the job done.

Value bet: JAMAICAN RAIN (Race 9, No. 6 — $6)

NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: s2321

BELLE ROC (Race 1, No. 6 — $4.20)

Flashed home to just miss behind Hold The Line (comfortable winner in this grade last week) at Ipswich and then proved it no fluke when getting the job done here last time. Looks enough on-pace runners to inject some speed into the race and under those circumstances, this girl will be hard to hold out.

Value bet: ANTIGONE (Race 6, No. 11 — $11)

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 2251s

ALL ABOUT NICCI (Race 5, No. 4 — $10)

Horse is flying and comes back to SA chasing his third straight win. Covered ground and was far too good last time. Big step up in class but looks great value again and should take beating.

Value bet: ZALMONA (Race 6, No. 10 — $10)
