OUR experts give you an early shot at finding a winner as they look at the major races around the nation this weekend.

Last week … Six winners. Ray Thomas and Matt Jones continued their hot form, nailing winners with Best Of Days ($3.30) and Unforgotten ($3.80) respectively. Michael Manley and Chris Vernuccio were on the money with Call Me Handsome ($2.70), while Simon Moy was spot on with Night’s Watch ($3.30). Nathan Exelby steered punters into Belle Roc ($2.60) and Lincoln Moore’s value bet, Zalmona, lobbed at $5.50.

DOOMBEN (9 races, 11.47am), ROSEHILL GARDENS (9 races, start 12.10pm), MOONEE VALLEY (9 races, 12.30pm), MORPHETTVILLE (8 races, 1.16pm), BELMONT (8 races, 2.03pm)

RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: x1111

RENEWAL (Race 3, No. 5 — $3.90)

Bungled the start, settled last on the rail and had to make his run on the worst part of the track when finishing fast for third to Don’t Give A Damn over 1200m. The step up to 1400m suits, he meets Don’t Give A Damn 3kg better at the weights, and he’s drawn to get the gun run from his inside barrier. Ready to win.

Value bet: OPPOSITION (Race 9, No. 9 — $8.50)

MATT JONES (Daily Telegragh). Form: 2×111

SOOTHING (Race 8, No. 11 — $2.40)

She blitzed them last start and despite going up in grade it shouldn’t prove too hard for her to win again. She’s got James McDonald which only helps.

Value bet: OPPOSITION (Race 9, No. 9 — $8.50)

BRAD DAVIDSON (Sky Racing). Form: 034×7

RENEWAL (Race 3, No. 5 — $3.90)

A cleaner getaway and a 3kg swing in the weights on Don’t Give A Damn should see him go close.

Value bet: DAYSEE DOOM (Race 7, No. 1 — $7.50)

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegragh). Form: 42710

SHE KNOWS (Race 8, No. 4 — $8)

She was beaten in a photo at Randwick before another honest effort for second over this track and distance last start. Carried a huge weight last time and gets plenty of relief here.

Value bet: INVINCIBELLA (Race 7, No. 3 — $9.50)

JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegragh). Form: 35110

SHE KNOWS (Race 8, No. 4 — $8)

Carried the grandstand last time and only just failed to reel in the leader. Quality mare who is never far from the action. Tough nut to crack.

Value bet: MY BLUE JEANS (Race 2, No. 4 — $9.50)

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 1s123

TRAPEZE ARTIST (Race 5, No. 1 — $2.80)

I’m not worried about weight (61kg), he is physically able to handle it and the trip will suit. Gate three is the clincher.

Value bet: DISSOLUTE (Race 8, No. 5 — $12)

DARREN PRENDERGAST (Superracing). Form: 14127

CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES (Race 7, No. 6 — $3.20)

Classy mare mixed it with the older horses in the winter, notching placings in the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup and Stradbroke. Has trialled well and has good first-up figures.

Value bet: PERFORMER (Race 6, No. 4 — $7.50)

media_cameraChampagne Cuddles has won three of her four first-up runs.

MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 12211

TRAP FOR FOOLS (Race 4, No. 2 — $3.20)

Had five weeks off and was expected to need the run but he still proved too good when he took advantage of the on-pace track bias when he led throughout to win this track and distance. He should again lead without too much trouble and be hard to beat.

Value bet: TULIP (Race 7, No. 11 — $11)

GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun). Form: s2218

TRAP FOR FOOLS (Race 4, No. 2 — $3.20)

Dominant win at The Valley last start and could go on with it from here.

Value bet: ZOUSAIN (Rosehill, Race 6, No. 1 — $7.50)

SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 37×21

TRAP FOR FOOLS (Race 4, No. 2 — $3.20)

Continues to blossom since arriving here from the west. Can win again.

Value bet: OSBORNE BULLS (Race 7, No. 2 — $3.80)

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: s3221

NIGHT’S WATCH (Race 8, No. 7 — $3.40)

On the back-up after a soft win last week, even running quicker time than the Memsie Stakes. Has the potential to be a group winner.

Value bet: ANJANA (Race 6, No. 7 — $5)

NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 12117

APPROACH DISCREET (Race 3, No. 4 — $3.10)

Darren Weir-trained runner who won by 8.5 lengths last start in easier grade. Drawn nicely in barrier five and will be worth sticking and he could potentially be a serious Caulfield Guineas contender.

Value bet: MASTER ASH (Rosehill, Race 4, No. 5 — $8)

NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 23211

PRUE’S ANGEL (Race 2, No. 8 — $4.60)

Failed at 1400m last time but given three weeks since and returns to 1200m. Looks a solid enough pace, so she can settle back and finish off strongly, like she did in two previous runs this prep. No dramas if the track gets to worse than the current Soft (7) either.

Value bet: MONTAUK (Race 3, No. 1 — $9)

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 251s3

FREEHEARTED (Race 4, No. 3 — $2.70)

Looked good winning two starts back at Sandown before getting back and charging home at Moonee Valley last time when well backed. Nicely drawn and looks the testing material.

Value bet: A LITTLE CHUNKY (Race 7, No. 14 — $23)
