THE jumps season comes to an end at Sandown on ITV tomorrow, but before then there’s some quality Flat action to enjoy with four races on terrestrial TV on Friday.
Let’s get straight to it, and the 1.50pm is the usually competitive Esher Cup Handicap over 1m.
Kings Shield could be a blot on the handicap after two wins for Johnny G, but he’s drawn out wide and I’ll have a few quid each-way on DREAM WARRIOR for the inform pair of Charlie Appleby and William Buick.
Down in trip, I expect a positive ride and he’s got form with juice in the ground.
It’s the Gordon Richards Stakes at 2.25pm, a Group 3 over nearly 1m2f.
CRYSTAL OCEAN looks a good favourite for Sir Michael Stoute after finishing second to Capri in the St Leger. I don’t think the drop in trip will be any problem.
Next up it’s the Group 3 Classic Trial at 3.00pm over the same trip of nearly 1m2f. I was at Windsor when Sevenna Star was hugely impressive, but again I’ll go each-way on the Godolphin hope ISPOLINI.
He had a hopeless start when beaten on debut, but was a good victor at Nottingham last time.
Matt Chapman’s TV tips
1.50 Sandown – Dream Warrior: ‘He has form with juice in the ground and should go well for the inform pair of Charlie Appleby and William Buick’ (add to your betslip)
2.25 Sandown – Crystal Ocean: ‘Looks a good favourite for Sir Michael Stoute and drop in trip shouldn’t be an issue’ (add to your betslip)
3.00 Sandown – Ispolini: ‘Was a good victor at Nottingham last time and his yard are in flying form’ (add to your betslip)
3.35 Sandown – Here Comes When: ‘Was second in the race last year and is a decent place bet’ (add to your betslip)
Finally, there’s a Group 2 Mile event at 3.35pm. Addeybb has conditions in his favour after a devastating Lincoln success, but HERE COMES WHEN was second in this race last year and is a decent place bet.
He won the Group 1 Sussex last season, and while that flatters him he’s still rated 116 over Addeybb’s 109.
So best of luck. Hope for a Yeeehaaa or two. You Betcha!
