HORSE racing is often associated with blokes and booze, but all of that changes on Ladies Day.
If you and your girlfriends fancy dressing up and heading down to Aintree Racecourse, here’s all you need to know about Ladies Day at the Grand National.
When is Ladies Day at Grand National 2018?
Aintree’s highly-anticipated Ladies Day takes place today, April 13, at the Merseyside racecourse.
Gates open at 10.30am and the first race kicks off at 1.45pm, with the seventh and final race setting out at 5.30pm.
Sadly, tickets have now all sold out for the festival’s glamour centrepiece.
But if you can’t make it along, you can still keep up with the action as ITV broadcasts the races live from 2.00pm-5.00pm.

What is the dress code for Aintree Ladies Day?
Aintree’s dress code is actually quite relaxed, although the website explains that many people opt to “use their trip as an opportunity to showcase their favourite race day outfits”.
The only clothes that aren’t allowed at the Grand National are sports clothes, i.e. trainers and tracksuits, and fancy dress.
Hats are optional, but are often worn on Ladies Day. Despite the lack of official dress code, the organisers explain that “smart is preferable and often adopted”.
On Ladies Day, Aintree staff will be on the hunt for the day’s most stylish woman, who will be crowned the Style Award winner.
Randox Health, who sponsor the event, urge ladies to adopt a Style Code inspired by the Coco Chanel quote: “Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.”
If you’re seeking inspiration, check out these photos from last year’s booze-drenched event, as revellers got stuck into the betting and the bars.
Or you could imitate TOWIE brunettes Megan McKenna and Jess Wright’s Ascot outfits.
