IT’S that time of the week where our expert tipsters give us their best bets ahead of the weekend racing.

Templegate thinks there’s a cert at Newbury, while Chappers heads to Newcastle as the pair battle it out of Saturday supremacy.

Last week neither tipping supremo was successful, though Templegate can count himself extremely unlucky that River Wylde unshipped at the last when coming with what looked a winning challenge.

Chappers was all in on Admiral Barratry, but his selection didn’t quite have the gas to see it out at Haydock.

Despite the double miss, both tipsters remain in profit and it’s all to play for with just 2.75 points separating them.

It could be a vital week as Chappers puts up a shortie and Templegate plays a longshot….

BUVEUR D’AIR has had a wind operation since last season and can defy Samcro and Summerville Boy in the Fighting Fifth.

He’s Nap material to see off the crack novices in a mouthwatering renewal of the race. I can’t see past him. Yeeehaaaaa!

Chapman’s picks for the ITV races

  • 1.50 Newbury – Speedo Boy
  • 2.05 Newcastle – BUVEUR D’AIR (NAP)
  • 2.25 Newbury – Whatmore
  • 2.40 Newcastle – Bishops Road
  • 3.00 Newbury – The Young Master
  • 3.35 Newbury – Top Gamble

DON’T be a Village idiot.

It would be stupid to ignore DOITFORTHEVILLAGE.

He’s back to the same handicap rating as when winning at Cheltenham last November.

Paul Henderson’s hope tried to win that same race without a prep run this year and he was putting up a big show until slipping badly after jumping the second-last fence.

That should have put the edge on him and today’s softer ground won’t be a problem.

Templegate’s picks for the ITV races

  • 1.50 Newbury – Paddleyourowncanoe
  • 2.05 Newcastle – Summerville Boy
  • 2.25 Newbury – Ballymoy
  • 3.00 Newbury – Thomas Patrick
  • 3.20 Newcastle – Testify
  • 3.35 Newbury – DOITFORTHEVILLAGE (NAP)
