The Punchestown Festival rolls on after a dramatic opening day.

There was carnage in the Growise Champion Novice Chase with Monalee crashing out at the second last before Al Boum Photo and Finan’s Oscar went wide of the last in the most circumstances.

It had a big impact on the trainers’ championship with Gordon Elliott saddling a 1-2-3-5 and getting a step closer to an elusive first title.

The action continues today with lots of top quality racing races including the Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle, where Townsend will be riding race favourite Next Destination for Willie Mullins.

And the Closutton handler is running a small army of four horses at the Punchestown Gold Cup, where Noel Meade saddles Road to Respect, who ran a very good race to finish fourth in the Cheltenham version.

It’s not all about the racing though and we keep you up to date with the fashion stakes and all the craic at the Kildare venue.
