Laurina: followed up her Cheltenham Festival success

Cheltenham Festival heroine Laurina extended her unbeaten record for Willie Mullins to four with an effortless success in the Grade 1 Mares Novice Hurdle Championship Final at Fairyhouse.

Ridden by Paul Townend, odds-on favourite Laurina did not have to come off the bridle to justify her short price, coming home clear of Lackaneen Leader, with Alletrix in third.

Two of Laurina’s stablemates both came down as Cut The Mustard fell with a mile to run and Redhotfillypeppers crashed out under David Dunsdon when in front at the fourth last.

But Townend kept the 2-11 market leader clear of danger, producing her to join another stablemate Salsaretta at the second-last from where she only needed to be pushed out to score a first top-level win.

This race report is being updated and more news will follow shortly.
