EXETER’s first card of the season is the highlight on Monday, and there’s also some cracking all-weather fare at Newcastle and Kempton.
Sun Racing has got out the microscope to try and provide you with those all-important winners.
2.30 – Maqsad: Very good second on debut when green and will probably come on a lot for that run. Only a few others in the field have racecourse form and this one is almost certainly capable of taking higher rank in the future.
4.00 – The Night King: Did well to finish second at the track on his penultimate start and although wasn’t as good last time, has claims back under favoured conditions. Now gets first-time cheekpieces and is sure to take some beating off a good mark.
2.50 – Bradford Bridge: Couldn’t have won much easier at Worcester last time and has subsequently earned an 8lb higher mark. That’s unlikely to stop him against this calibre of opposition, though, and he’ll take a lot of beating if in the same form for his red-hot trainer.
3.20 – Field Exhibition: Has fallen or unseated on his last two outings but remains on a decent mark over hurdles. Has the best jockey in the race on top and could be hard to catch if avoiding mishaps.
2.40 – Wiretap: Disappointed on debut at Yarmouth but proved a different proposition there last time, just losing out in a tight finish. With further improvement likely, he’s be the one they’ve all got to catch now.
3.40 – Swissterious: Flopped when well-fancied in the Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar last time out but is the highest rated of these and if he can get back on track he’s the one to beat. Second in his only outing on Tapeta and his trainer has a decent record at the track.
7.10 – Evasive Power: Michael O’Callaghan makes the intriguing decision to bring over his two-year-old from Ireland and he certainly has the form to win this. Has to give weight away but is classy and a reproduction of his Curragh second last time should be good enough.
8.10 – Indian Tygress: Found the step up to Class 2 company too much on her most recent outing but had previously won impressively at the track. A 6lb higher mark should be within her compass and she can take this on the way to better things.
