Trainer Chris Waller on Friday, local time, listed a schedule of races that could complete the great Australian mare Winx‘s career.

On a string of 26 straight race wins, the 7-year-old daughter of Street Cry is all but set for Randwick’s Group 1 George Main Stakes (now called the Colgate Optic White) a week from Saturday, with only a bit of training left.

“Everything is going to plan,” Waller said in an interview with the Racing & Sport Network.

Beyond the George Main, Winx is expected to point for the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes, which she won by a record 6 1/2 lengths a year ago, on Oct. 6 at Flemington.

“I would say so, but as we’ve said all along, we’re just taking it one run at a time and not getting too far ahead of ourselves,” Waller told RSN. “The Caulfield Stakes is a back up plan if something, god forbid, went amiss.”

The ultimate goal is a run at a the Group 1 Cox Plate, a race Winx has won a record-tying three straight years. A fourth would exceed her mark, and also that of Kingston Town, who won the Moonee Valley feature from 1980-1982.

Running in the Turnbull before the Cox Plate provides an ideal three weeks between races as the great mare’s career continues.

Winx is currently rated No. 1 in the Longines World’s Best Racehorse rankings. This year she has both eclipsed the record for career Grade/Group 1 wins previously held by American runner John Henry, and last out she moved past Black Caviar’s consecutive wins total of 25.

And after the Cox Plate? Connections haven’t said, though retirement has been speculated. After all, what’s left to do? We’ll see.
