Timeform take you through the card at Worcester on Wednesday…

“…he will be hard to beat under a penalty.”

Timeform on Walk Waterford

16:45 – COMBER MILL (5) was progressive over hurdles during the turn of the year and made a sound start to his chasing career when runner-up over C&D recently, so he could be the way to go with that experience under his belt. Course winner Dark Invader is on a fair mark, but Monday’s early fall at Cartmel has to be a concern, so Full, who was third behind Comber Mill last time, is feared most.

17:15 – Horse In Focus SHANTOU VILLAGE (2) probably isn’t the force of old but his latest third at Market Rasen is easily his most robust effort since his superb novice campaign, and is of interest off the same mark. He’s preferred to top-weight Bagad Bihoue and Ozzy Thomas, but it’s worth including HENRI PARRY MORGAN (4) as a second string to the perm. He doesn’t have form figures that would really draw you in, but there are reasons to think that he’ll bounce back from a below-par effort in the Scottish National at Ayr when last seen in late-April. He won a bumper here back in 2012, is not handicapped out of things on his old form, and better is expected.

17:45 – It looks worth banking on WE’VE GOT PAYET (1) who produced a fairly useful effort when scoring on debut at Uttoxeter last month, and he is fancied to defy a penalty and follow up. Big ‘N Better is next best, whilst Mix Of Clover and Grangerosie may be the pick of the newcomers, despite the latter being bred for much further than this.

18:15 – TIMEFORBEN (2) has made an excellent start to life in handicaps in 2018, landing 2 of her last 4 starts and running her best race to date when runner-up at Uttoxeter last month. The handicapper applies a little more pressure now, with an extra 2 lb added for that effort, but she looks sure to give another good account. Recent Worcester runner-up Innoko, who was coming back from a long absence that day, and the returning Masterofdeception are others to consider.

18:45 – French-recruit NORDICAN BLEUE (10) is an interesting runner making her British/hurdling debut for Dr Richard Newland having won both her last 2 starts on the level. Bought for €25,000 (privately) in July, she receives the vote with Brandy James and Royal Household others to consider. Chief Justice sets the standard but looks vulnerable given his wayward tendencies (has refused to race on the Flat).

19:15 – Useful Flat-performer SHADOW SADNESS (3) offered plenty to work on sent hurdling when fourth in a C&D novice last month, and he ought to go close if building on that as expected. He’d had a breathing operation before that run and looks the one to beat here. Astute Boy is in top hands so is sure to do better at some stage given his Flat form, while Thepensionfund is bred to go well over obstacles. It’s also worth including SOMMERVIEU (11) in perms, as he looks of interest back in maiden company after an early error nearly brought him to a standstill in a Doncaster handicap when last seen.

19:45 – COCKLEY BECK hasn’t delivered over hurdles yet, but she’s undergone a breathing operation and if it does click, she’s well handicapped based on her bumper ability. David’s Phoebe is a solid alternative, while market support for Troubled Soul on second start back from a lengthy absence would look significant.
